Loker PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk is the oldest bank in Indonesia. Its history was started back on 16 December 1895, when Raden Bei Aria Wiraatmaja founded a small financial institution with the name of De Poerwokertosche Hulp en Spaarbank der Inlandsche Hoofden. The period following the independence of INDONESIA, based on Government Regulation No. 1 of 1946 article 1 stated that BRI was as the first Government Bank in the Republic of Indonesia. In the war of independence in 1948, BRI had stalled for a while and just getting active again after the Renville Agreement in 1949 changed its name to the people's Bank of Indonesia. At that time through PERPU No. 41 in 1960 established Farmers and fishermen Cooperative Bank (BKTN) which is a fusion of the BRI, fishermen and Farmers Bank Nederlandsche Maatschappij (NHM). Then based on the determination of President (Penpres) No. 9 of 1965, BKTN is integrated into Bank Indonesia under the name of Bank Indonesia Affairs of Cooperatives of farmers and fishermen.
